Follow Along

The Follow Along Program is a statewide Early Childhood Tracking program currently being used in Carver County. The Follow Along Program is designed for parents of children birth to age 3 to help them learn about their child's healthy growth and development. Through the Follow Along Program, parents can learn if their child is playing, talking, growing, moving and acting like other children the same age.

How Does it Work?
Questionnaires are mailed to the family to be completed and returned when the child is 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 30, and 36 months old. After the questionnaires are returned public health professionals then review them and send age-appropriate activity sheets and information on developmental stages to the family. The educational materials focus on child development, health, safety, reading and parenting. A public health nurse follows up on any concerns or questions parents may have about their child's development. Parents also may receive information on community resources and assistance in accessing needed services.

Who Can Enroll and Is there a Cost?
The Follow Along Program is currently open to all children in Carver County birth to age 3. There are no eligibility requirements to participate in the Follow Along Program and no fees for participating.

Help Me Grow and Carver County Community Health Services are working together to offer this service to families of very young children. The Carver County Interagency Early Intervention Committee (CCIEIC) also supports this program.
